Position Overview Schedules and pre‑registers patients for diagnostic tests accurately and efficiently in conformance with applicable guidelines to facilitate quality patient care. Handles a large volume of incoming calls and navigates between multiple systems to schedule various departments. Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. One year of call center experience assisting patients within a hospital or medical environment. Strong customer service and communication skills; strong attention to detail. Working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD‑10. Ability to multitask, navigate between systems simultaneously and handle a large volume of incoming calls. Ability to manage time and work well in a fast‑paced environment. Reporting Relationships Does not formally supervise employees. Essential Functions Schedule hospital outpatient tests using multiple systems. Pre‑register all patients. Obtain and advise patients of necessary pre‑certification and referrals for financial reimbursement. Adhere to departmental procedures for online scheduling and STAT processes. Collaborate with physician offices to obtain updated scripts and compliant diagnosis codes. Schedule cases while negotiating date and time and avoiding resource conflicts. Gather complete patient and testing information and enter data accurately into database. Complete MSP form timely and accurately. Determine medical necessity prior to scheduling a Medicare patient using the necessary software program. Inform all patients of the pre‑registration process and pre‑register all patients. Act as a liaison for hospital departments and physician practices. Ensure that all appropriate staff, patients, departments and external resources are notified of additions, changes and cancellations. Verify all authorizations are obtained twenty‑four hours before date of service. Follow out‑of‑network procedures. Adhere to CH attendance policy and interdepartmental policies and procedures. Attend all mandatory departmental meetings. Perform all other duties as assigned. Physical Demands and Work Environment Frequent physical demands: sitting. Occasional physical demands: standing, walking, climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), carrying objects, push/pull, twisting, bending, reaching forward, reaching overhead, squatting/kneeling/crawling. Continuous physical demands: wrist position deviation, pinching/fine motor activities, keyboard use/repetitive motion, talking or hearing. Lifting: floor to waist 15 lbs.; waist level and above 10 lbs. Sensory Requirements Accurate near vision, accurate far vision, accurate depth perception, accurate hearing.
