Coordinates work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity. Identifies problems in the production process and provides production reports to support process improvement. ResponsibilitiesSupervise and lead production team members in their daily activities, including assigning duties, providing training, coaching, counseling, and presenting disciplinary actions as necessaryCoordinate and communicate production activities with external customers and internal departments, including logistics, engineering, and production management (to include management on other shifts)Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and safety guidelines to workersPromote flow and pull of products and information to internal and ultimately external customersLead regular communications with the team on company and department performance, with the goals of improvement and reducing waste and non-value-added activityInvestigate problems and issues on the production floor, recommend and implement solutions, including 5S tools to reduce variation in the work environment. Develop and utilize visual aids to communicate processes and procedures identified to address issuesPartner with quality and engineering teams to identify issues and develop and implement processes and procedures to prevent recurrenceQualificationsAbility to apply technical knowledge related to the field of manufacturingDemonstrated expertise in methodologies for process controls and their applicationsDemonstrated skills and understanding of continuous improvement methods to enhance safety, on-time delivery, cost, and quality of productsStrong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse community of customers and employees at all levelsAbility to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints, plans, GD&T callouts, and specificationsCapacity to comprehend detailed and complex information and ideas, and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formAbility to effectively communicate and deliver information to managers, supervisors, and technicians using various methods of communication (telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in-person)Ability to multitask, follow through, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentCapacity to work under pressure while maintaining perspectiveAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization existsStrong operational thinking that moves the organization’s vision and goals to successful implementationDemonstrated leadership skills that are aligned to our company core valuesPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of composite manufacturing process is strongly preferredEducationCertificate or Degree from college or technical school or trelated experience or trainingEquivalent combination of education and experience can be used in lieu of above requirementExperienceMinimum of two years’ supervision experience in a manufacturing environmentComputer SkillsIntermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite to interoperate and create reports preferredPrior experience with an ERP system preferredOther DutiesThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
