Cash Ops Specialist

Overview Federal Reserve Bank of Boston – The Boston Fed serves all or parts of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, NewHampshire, RhodeIsland, and Vermont. This entry‑level position is essential to Bank operations and will be an onsite role in a production/manufacturing environment. Job Summary Responsible for receipt, processing, validation, destruction and payout of currency, and receipt and payout of coin in a highly controlled, regulated, and secure environment. Operates high‑speed currency equipment and complies with the Federal Reserve Currency Operations Manual (FRCOM), Custody Control Principles and Standards (CCPS), and internal District Cash Procedures. Principal Accountabilities Acquire job knowledge to pay and receive currency/coin to depository institutions. Operate high‑speed currency equipment, balancing deposits and processing financial accounting transactions/entries to depository institutions. Navigate complex inventory tracking within accounting operating systems and Cash Services applications. Ensure accuracy of physical counts and automated accounting and transfer records. Maintain rigorous documentation requirements and obtain counterfeit certification to detect counterfeits and altered notes. Transfer and store significant values and quantities of currency and coin using material handling equipment while maintaining custody and accountability. Operate pallet jacks, lifts, stackers, and other material handling equipment. Address routine mechanical issues with currency verification machines under supervision. Identify and alert management team to control and procedure exceptions and equipment problems. Knowledge and Experience High school diploma or GED. At least one year of related work experience in banking, cash handling, warehousing, customer service, manufacturing, or a production environment. Ability to push equipment weighing 800 pounds and handle 40–60 pounds repeatedly. Capability to stand for extended periods. Basic math, accounting, and balancing skills. Microsoft Office proficiency and basic 10‑key skills preferred. Salary and Benefits Starting salary: $56,000 (approximately $26.92 per hour). Salary is determined by applicant background, skills, internal equity, and market data.
