Mechanical Engineer II

Benefits :

Summary of Position :

The Mechanical Engineer II performs design, modeling, and analysis work on mechanical systems, assemblies, and automated equipment. This role is responsible for executing small to mid-sized mechanical design projects, troubleshooting complex system issues, updating documentation, and supporting fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities.

Mechanical scope may include structural frames, conveyor systems, tooling, guarding, mechanisms, and automation equipment used in industrial environments.

Essential Functions :
• Independently design mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, and equipment for small to mid-sized projects
• Develop 3D models, detailed drawings, and bills of material in accordance with company standards
• Conduct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of mechanical failures or performance issues
• Support fabrication, assembly, FAT/SAT, and field integration of new or upgraded equipment
• Perform tolerance analysis, component sizing, and material selection
• Assist in defining project mechanical requirements, timelines, and technical scope
• Provide guidance and informal mentoring to Engineers and Technicians
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, mechanical codes, and engineering best practices

Work Environment :

This position is based in a professional office setting and regularly utilizes workplace technology, including computers, smartphones, multifunction printers, cloud-based filing systems, and collaboration tools.

Physical Demands :

This role requires physical capabilities that support the successful execution of key responsibilities. The employee regularly engages in verbal and written communication with colleagues and clients to address project-related inquiries and must be able to convey accurate information clearly and efficiently. The position involves remaining seated at a workstation for approximately 75% of the time, with occasional movement throughout the office to access equipment, supplies, and shared resources. Daily tasks include consistent use of computers and standard office technology such as keyboards, printers, and multifunction devices. The role also involves transporting equipment boxes weighing up to 25 pounds within the building and to other offsite locations as needed for project support.

Required Education and Experience :

• Bachelor's Degree
• 3-5 years of experience

Qualifications :
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Onshape) modeling and drawing creation for mechanical systems
• Ability to design and modify mechanical components, assemblies, and layouts
• Ability to adapt to new tools, design methodologies, and manufacturing technologies
• Familiarity with PDM/PLM (e.g., SolidWorks PDM, Windchill, Arena) tools and workflows is preferred
• Familiarity with conveyors, pneumatics, or automation equipment is preferred
• Solid troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Effective communication with operations, engineering teams, and customer contacts
• Ability to manage small and mid-sized mechanical work packages with limited supervision
• Strong documentation practices and attention to detail
