Job Purpose: Performs diagnostic X-ray examinations using stationary radiographic equipment while adhering to ALARA guidelines.

Essential Functions: (Examples of Duties)

  • Complete patient education regarding the procedure
  • Promote privacy and monitor patients' well-being during exams; recognize patient discomfort or medical problems and take appropriate actions.
  • Performs radiologic procedures as ordered. Uses lead markers on all exams
  • Prepares and assists the Radiologist in the completion of fluoroscopy examinations
  • Follows techniques in administering general and specific X-rays, adjusts equipment, and determines proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time. Arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain the position of the patient.
  • Provide proper radiation protection for patients and staff.
  • Evaluate X-ray images for technical quality and label them appropriately.
  • Perform daily gown laundry
  • Transports patients within the facility as well as to and from the waiting area as required.
  • Prepares and maintains radiologic records, files, and technical worksheets
  • Completes appropriate documentation related to the study
  • Performs quality control functions related to radiological studies
  • Follows infection control and safety guidelines
  • Performs Bone Density scans as needed.
  • Performs daily laundry
  • Performs related work as required.
Qualifications

Job Requirements/Qualifications: ARRT Certified and have a Tennessee State License

Education : Completion of a two-year approved School of Radiologic Technology

Experience: One year of full-time experience as a Radiologic Technologist is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Maintains a high degree of accuracy in X-ray positioning and exposure techniques while adhering to established quality and safety standards. Exercises sound professional judgment, ethical decision-making, and critical thinking in all aspects of patient care. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients, providers, and members of the healthcare team.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid ARRT Registration and Tennessee Medical X-ray Operator License. CPR certification

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an outpatient imaging department and involves direct patient care in a fast-paced clinical environment. The Radiologic Technologist frequently interacts with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals while maintaining a high standard of patient care and confidentiality. The position requires adherence to radiation safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards. May be exposed to communicable diseases, blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.

Physical Demands: Requires a full range of body motion, including frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity. Must be able to assist with lifting, positioning, and transferring patients when necessary. Requires normal vision and hearing, with or without corrective devices, to safely perform patient care duties and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage stressful situations.
