Tax Accountant Salary: $80K - $105K base (Depending on years of relevant experience) Location: Des Moines, IA (onsite) Overview Join a growing, partner-led firm integrating tax, accounting, and financial planning for high-net-worth individuals and small to mid-sized businesses. This role offers strong exposure to client-facing work and complex returns, with a clear path toward increased responsibility. What You’ll Do Prepare individual and business tax returns, including more complex filings Support work across pass-through entities (LLCs, S-Corps, partnerships) Interact with clients to gather information and help explain filings Assist with returns tied to investments and financial assets Manage multiple engagements and deadlines during peak season What You Bring CPA 2-5 years of tax preparation experience (flexible based on strength) Experience with individual and business returns Familiarity with multi-entity structures Strong attention to detail and ability to manage workload Nice to Have Exposure to SMB clients or high-net-worth individuals Any experience with investment-related tax work Comfort working in a client-facing environment What Success Looks Like Produces accurate returns with increasing independence Build confidence interacting with clients Takes on larger and more complex work overtime Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
