Our client is hiring a Mechanical Sales Engineer to support commercial and industrial projects across the Hampton Roads market. This role will focus on project sales, design-assist, and preconstruction support for special projects up to $2M, while partnering closely with customers, general contractors, vendors, and internal estimating teams.

The team is seeking someone with a thorough mechanical HVAC/plumbing background who can help develop project solutions, support scope and estimating strategy, and bring a customer-facing approach to growing project work across the region.

responsibilities:

• Drive project sales efforts focused on new commercial and industrial mechanical/plumbing work rather than maintenance or service sales.

• Develop design-build / design-assist mechanical and plumbing solutions for clients, helping shape project scope, delivery approach, and overall system strategy.

• Provide technical and preconstruction support by assisting with scope development, conceptual budgeting, estimating input, and technical proposals for HVAC, piping, ductwork, and plumbing projects.

• Partner with customers, general contractors, vendors, and internal teams to qualify opportunities, understand project requirements, and position the company to win work.

• Bring mechanical design expertise to help support complex pursuits, mentor less-experienced estimators, and strengthen the team's overall technical approach.

Requirements

• 5+ years of mechanical HVAC/plumbing design, project engineering, or design-assist experience within commercial or industrial construction.

• Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering preferred

• Experience with a mechanical contractor, consulting/design firm, or equipment manufacturer/rep, with a thorough understanding of mechanical/plumbing systems, scope development, and project delivery.

• Ability to work directly with clients, general contractors, vendors, and internal teams
