Family Parenting Support Advocate

NAYA Family Center seeks a community oriented experienced foster care or social services professional to help serve our community as our Family Parenting Support Advocate. This role will provide support and resources to families while promoting Parenting in 2 World curriculum. Working collaboratively, the individual in this role will forge strong connections with community-based organizations and partners, as well as families working with the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS). This role is responsible for case management duties that involve advocacy and attention to the multiple needs of both the youth and their families, and other wrap around services in order to support our community and family needs in a culturally responsive manner. This is a full-time role with work hours of 9 am to 6 pm with a one-hour unpaid lunch. Once training and onboarding are complete, there may be flexibility to work from home 1-2 days / week. Starting pay is $25/hour, which is equivalent to $52,000 annually. Requirements – Who You Are Ideally, you have three years of experience in child abuse prevention and/or parent education. You have a Bachelor of Social Work, or more than two years of experience working in human services. You demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Indian Child Welfare Act, as well as an understanding of services provided by ODHS. You have facilitated workshops or trainings and are comfortable being at the front of a room. You have lived or professional experience working with diverse populations, particularly within Native American communities. You have experience managing a caseload of clients. You are detail oriented, and you have superb follow up. You don’t let work—or your clients—fall through the cracks. You possess strong communication skills, engaging effectively with diverse groups and adapting to varied contexts. You are consistently punctual, reliable, and dependable in support of your team and clients. You are proficient in computer skills, including web-based research, word processing, MS Excel, and database management. You have your own car and a current Oregon or Washington driver’s license and the ability to be insured under NAYA’s liability insurance policy, i.e. no more than one major driving violation in the last three years. What You’ll Do Network with community-based organizations to build relationships necessary for program recruitment. Partner with ODHS and community partners to support families and ensure child safety. Coordinate and deliver Parenting in 2 Worlds curriculum to groups, either virtually or in-person. Develop and maintain resource lists and their processes to access resources for Native youth and their families in the areas of education, academic support, or accommodations.
