Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview Join to apply for the Veterinary Extern - General Practice role at NVA General Practice . Heartland Animal Hospital has been serving the Wichita area since 2000. We are a busy practice with five doctors, ranging from seasoned vets with over 25 years of experience to new grads. We mostly take care of dogs and cats but occasionally see pocket pets. Externs here will stay on their toes and get to see plenty of interesting cases. Externs will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing clinical skills, externs will have the opportunity to practice communication with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships. Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Details on the stipend program are available from the program coordinator.
