About The Role Critical Care Advanced Practice Providers (APP) are Nurse Practitioners (NP) or Physician Assistants (PA). The APP is credentialed by the medical staff and functions within their scope of practice in their jurisdictional area in accordance with organizational medical staff bylaws. They provide evidenced‑based care for the management of patients, including assessment, implementation, and evaluation of detailed plans of care that incorporate diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. The APP demonstrates competency in delivering age‑appropriate care and provides family‑centered care, including psychological support, education, and discharge planning in conjunction with related disciplines. The APP initiates, participates, and collaborates with critical care divisible and organizational multidisciplinary staff to support evidence‑based education, quality improvement, and research. They contribute to department and organization‑wide initiatives, representing advanced practice and promoting the role of the advanced practice provider. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with Children’s National compensation philosophy, including but not limited to current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual’s prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications.
