Supervisory Firefighter.

Responsibilities Perform overall technical and administrative management of the Fire Department on all shifts. Supervise Assistant Chiefs and subordinate staff, handling leave, awards, and discipline. Develop, schedule, and evaluate all departmental training and public fire‑prevention educational programs. Review and approve emergency response and contingency plans for high‑risk incidents (WMD, CBRNE, Force Protection, Hazardous Materials) and coordinate simulated emergency response exercises with local, state, and federal agencies. Respond to and manage emergency incident scenes, ensuring the Incident Management System and the department’s personnel accountability systems are deployed and operational during calls. Conduct routine visits to fire stations to inspect cleanliness, accountability, and operational status, ensuring all apparatus, electronic systems, and communications equipment remain in a constant state of readiness. Oversee fire‑prevention and training records, evaluate program progress, and prepare detailed reports and correspondence for the Fire Chief; maintain accurate activity logs and dispatch records. Requirements Appointment subject to suitability or fitness determination via background investigation. Completion of pre‑employment and periodic medical examinations as required by DoDM 6055.06. Capacity to lift up to 50 lbs. in routine duties. Compliance with Federal and Department of the Army drug‑free workplace programs, including random testing. Designation as Mission Essential; required to report to work during severe weather or other emergency situations. Use of personal protective equipment and prescribed uniform while on duty. Shift work on evenings, weekends, holidays, and special situations; 24‑hour rotating shifts with a 120‑hour pay period. Work both planned and unscheduled overtime and provide mutual aid support to local fire departments. Maintain a valid state driver’s license to operate vehicles. Conform to NFPA 1500, Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety Program requirements. Participation in a cardiovascular physical fitness program. Immediate recall and extended shifts during emergencies. Qualifications Estimated annual pay range (60‑hour work week): $128,900‑$158,600. Position approved for Firefighter special retirement coverage. Who May Apply U.S. citizens only. The position requires a minimum of one year of specialized experience, including acting as an initial Incident Commander for localized fire, medical, or hazardous materials incidents, conducting fire‑prevention inspections and facility walk‑throughs, and delivering unit‑level training to ensure crew proficiency. All required DoD Firefighter certifications (Fire Officer III, Fire Instructor II, Fire Inspector II, HAZMAT Materials Incident Commander, and NIMS series 15‑700, 15‑800, 15‑100, 15‑200, 15‑300, 15‑400) must be possessed and maintained.
