MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Position Overview

The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking a Medical Director with an Illinois Physician and Surgeon License and Board Certification in Psychiatry to provide medical leadership and oversight of the psychiatry services at the Chester Mental Health Center, Chester, Illinois.

Essential Functions

• Serve as Medical Director for Chester Mental Health Center.
• Act as full-line supervisor.
• Develop, plan, and monitor implementation of ancillary medical services, including dentistry, optometry, Electroencephalogram (EEG), and all contractual medical services.
• Direct, design, and implement policies, procedures, and verify compliance with all accrediting regulatory agencies.
• Provide psychiatry services by examining, treating, and monitoring individual patients’ medical needs.
• Perform other duties as reasonably required or assigned within the scope of the above duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid State of Illinois Physician and Surgeon License.
• American Board Certification in the medical specialty of psychiatry.
• Three (3) years of substantive medical administrative experience in directing, planning, and evaluating a medical/clinical program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five (5) years of professional experience working with health services disciplines and program support functions coordinating comprehensive medical health programs.
• Five (5) years of professional experience managing and evaluating the delivery of medical care, treatment, services, and investigating and reporting on incidents.
• Five (5) years of professional experience supervising staff in the medical field and other medical professionals.
• Five (5) years of professional experience recommending changes to medical service programs and working with psychiatry medicine concepts and practices.
• Five (5) years of professional experience providing technical medical training and assistance to internal and external stakeholders, communicating daily with stakeholders.
• Two (2) years of professional experience performing quality assurance assessments on medical services and treatments provided.

Conditions of Employment

• Possession of a valid Illinois Controlled Substance License.
• Possession of a valid United States Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate of Registration.
• Ability to meet the requirements of and be appointed to the medical staff association of Chester Mental Health Center within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to travel for job duties and testify in court.
• Ability to walk and stand for significant periods, stooping, bending, lifting or exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally.
• Participation in patient management interventions that may include restraint interventions.
• Maintenance of current Basic Life Support Certification.
• Availability to serve as Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) after business hours, weekends, and holidays in case of emergency.
• Compliance with revolving door restrictions as contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45.
• Requirement to file annual Statements of Economic Interest and Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest under the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act.
• Successful completion of the IDHS background check.
• Successful completion of a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
