Position Overview The Clinical Health Services (CHS) Medical Assistant-Client Support Specialist (MA-CSS) will support clinical health services provided to patients by ensuring quality patient care through Family Planning Service programs. Under the clinical guidance/oversight of the CHS Advanced Practice Provider, the CHS MA‑CSS will be responsible for performing front and back office duties and clinical tasks in accordance with Harris County Public Health policies and procedures. The position also performs clerical front desk duties to support clinic operations flow. This position supports the Harris County Public Health Department, reports to the Clinical Health Services (CHS) Program Manager, and serves the Riverside Health Clinic by providing comprehensive medical care to all patients served. Duties & Responsibilities Assists with patient appointments by performing immunization, phlebotomy (capillary and venous draws), urine collection, pregnancy tests, lead testing, vital signs, and gathering patient histories. Performs clinic front office duties; scheduling, answering phone, and checking patients in/out as needed. Prepares and labels all patient specimens for transport to appropriate laboratories. Provides in‑room support for all clinical staff during clinic visits as needed, including assisting the provider during procedures. Maintains laboratory and exam rooms in a neat, clean, orderly manner per infection control policies and completes monthly inventory. Assists in performing data entry and electronic data processing using the HCPH electronic medical record system (Epic), Microsoft Excel, and related programs/sites. Supports coordination of scheduling patients to receive services from multidisciplinary team members. Education Completion of a community college or business/technical school Medical Assistant program. Language Bilingual (English/Spanish). Experience Six (6) months of experience in a healthcare setting. Licensure/Certifications American Heart Association CPR Certification. Valid TX Driver's License. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong understanding of cultural competency. Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work This is a full‑time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. 40 hours week. Work Environment This position operates in a medical clinic environment. It also operates in a standard office environment with standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. Physical Demands Persons in this position frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 lbs. They also occasionally move objects weighing up to 20 lbs, and sometimes, but rarely, up to 50 lbs.
