Job Summary

This is a full-time, grant-funded position reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success. The Project Director is responsible for identifying and selecting students to participate in the project (i.e. first generation African American male college students) and provide effective services to assist in successful completion of postsecondary educational programs. This is a temporary grant-funded position which ends September 30, 2027.

Job Duties

• Provides effective management of project operations.
• Develops project reports and performance appraisals.
• Facilitates staff meetings to evaluate program activities.
• Develops and implements strategies for participant recruitment and persistence.
• Manages program budget to ensure compliance with federal guidelines.
• Hires, trains and evaluates program staff.
• Develops and maintains relationships with college faculty, staff, community agencies and secondary schools in target area.
• Attends local, state, regional and national meetings as a visible professional liaison with associations and organizations related to project activities.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in education, counseling or social work or related field.
  
• Three (3) years' experience in higher education and/or similar student support services.
  
• Prior supervisory and/or management experience with an educational or social service organization.
  
• Prior experience working with low-income groups or other disadvantaged groups.
  
• A background check will be required for the successful candidate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledgeable of budget management, and information technology systems.
  
• Ability to network with area colleges and other institutions of higher education to provide ready access to postsecondary educational services for program participants, upon request.
  
• Ability to network with public sector and private non-profit agencies and organizations to provide access to services and opportunities for program participants who need assistance to meet college entrance requirements.
  
• Ability to plan and prioritize projects and flexibility to modify processes as needed.
  
• Ability to work effectively as a team leader and team facilitator.
  
• Ability to manage time effectively and to manage multiple priorities.
  
• Ability to perform computer functions and utilize applications such as those included in the Microsoft Office Suite to maintain student data and statistical reports.
