Sr Leave Case Manager - Hybrid; South Portland, ME The Company: Aflac Columbus The Location: South Portland, ME, US, 04106 The Division: PLADS Job Id: 9169 Salary Range: $50,000 - $70,000 Job Posting End Date: May 18th 2026 Worker Designation This role is hybrid. You will be expected to report to our Aflac office located in South Portland, ME for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership. Excellent customer service skills and ability to manage difficult and stressful situations. Strong communication skills – written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, facilitation of strong working relationships. Ability to manage business expectations and resolve concerns, by communicating status and issues. Ability to effectively prioritize and elevate customer issues. Ability to interpret and analyze data. Knowledge of state and federal FMLA regulations; Paid Family and Medical Leave experience a plus. Knowledge of medical disability management preferred. Strong organizational skills. Responsibilities Assist and guide claimants with paid leave of absence requests and leave process. Process all leave of absence paperwork according to established procedures and laws. Provide timely and accurate responses to associates, and all levels of management concerning day-to-day issues and activities. Make timely, accurate, and customer-focused decisions on new and ongoing absence management claims. Proactively contact healthcare providers, employers, financial institutions, and other relevant sources to gather information; evaluate the collected information against contract terms, limitations, conditions, and applicable procedural documents; render claim decisions promptly to ensure efficient resolutions. Make recommendations to approve or deny requests for statutory paid leave based on state regulations. Coordinate correspondence, forms, and other documents via the claim system; document the claims system in an accurate and comprehensive manner. Generate reports as required; maintain files, input and analyze data. Assist management in handling leave of absence situations by providing guidance consistent with policies and established legal guidelines. Keep complete records of all LOA requests and maintain tracking and analysis of data. Maintain compliance with standards and federal/state regulations. Serve as an internal reference to the team for certification requirements and processing; contact providers for clarification. Mentor and coach new team members and participate in projects supporting the team's business initiatives. Support management with special projects as necessary. Assist in process and system assessment, improvement and implementation. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Required High School Diploma or Equivalent. 2 or more years of professional job-related experience. Demonstrated proficiency in product specific areas of absence management and federal and state regulations governing these products and services. Education & Experience Preferred Associate’s Degree in a related field. Total Rewards The salary range for this job is $50,000 to $70,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting. At Aflac, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role to allow for future and continued salary growth, and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. In addition to the base salary, we offer an array of benefits to meet your needs including medical, dental, and vision coverage, prescription drug coverage, health care flexible spending, dependent care flexible spending, Aflac supplemental policies (Accident, Cancer, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity offered at no costs to employee), 401(k) plans, annual bonuses, and an opportunity to purchase company stock.
