Ergon Construction is a self-performing general contractor specializing in interior finishing systems. Where most builders broker the work out to subcontractors, our own craftsmen demo, frame, hang, finish, paint, trim, and tile the spaces we deliver, from ground-up new construction to complex renovations on commercial, healthcare, and federal projects. Building with our own hands is how we control quality, schedule, and safety, and it is why we invest in the people who do the building. Every craftsman at Ergon has a defined career path, from Apprentice through Master Craftsman and into field leadership, with structured performance reviews, training, and advancement. Job Summary

As a Craftsman III, you are the senior craftsman on the crew: the best tradesman on it. You work on the tools full time, take direction from the Working Foreman, and mentor the craftsmen coming up behind you. The Leadman duty, appointed in writing by the Working Foreman per crew or task, is your proving ground for selection to Working Foreman or Master Craftsman. This is a safety sensitive position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently perform the full range of interior finishing work to Ergon's quality standard: selective demolition, framing, hanging and finishing drywall, paint prep and painting, insulation, doors and frames, trim and millwork, and tile setting.

• Perform layout from drawings and specifications for your work areas.

• When appointed Leadman, lead at the task level: set the pace, show the how, check the work, and train and develop the crewmen assigned to you. (The duty is appointed in writing; formal supervision remains with the Working Foreman.)

• Mentor Apprentice, Craftsman I, and Craftsman II teammates in the trade.

• Coordinate material, equipment, and tool needs for your work areas with the Working Foreman, and keep the site stocked, swept, and organized.

• Set the example on safety: model safe work practices, communicate hazards, and help secure the site, tools, and stored materials at the end of each day.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in interior construction trades (e.g., carpentry, drywall, paint, tile, or related finish work).

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Valid Driver's License is required.

• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as assigned. Travel varies by project: some work is local to the Oklahoma City metro, while other projects require short- or long-term overnight assignments (per diem provided).

• Own set of standard personal hand tools. Ergon furnishes power tools, equipment, and PPE, and provides a tool allowance.

• Reliable and punctual. Consistent, on-time attendance is a firm expectation. The crew's daily plan depends on every member being there.

• Strong ability to read and work from drawings and specifications, including performing construction layout.

• OSHA 10 Certification is required.

• Self-directed. Able to keep yourself and the team beside you productive without close supervision.

• Professional communication with the crew, the Working Foreman, the Site Superintendent, and clients.

• Physical Demands : Must be able to perform Heavy Work , exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally , and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to frequently walk about the jobsite, climb, stoop, reach, and grasp. Must be able to safely wear a respirator and pass applicable medical/fit testing examination.

• Employment Offers are Contingent upon successful completion of:

  • Verification of work authorization and employment eligibility.

  • Substance abuse screening.

  • NCIC III background checks for security clearances.

Preferred Qualifications:

• OSHA 30 Certification.

• Prior experience as a leadman or crew lead.

• Experience working on federal government projects and familiarity with their specific safety and quality control requirements.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly Rate: $30-$32. Full-time, non-exempt W-2 employment, paid weekly.

• Overtime: Hours worked over 40 in a workweek are paid at 1.5x the base hourly rate.

• Holidays: The Company observes the eleven (11) federal holidays and job sites are typically closed on those days. Any hours actually worked on an observed holiday are paid at 2x the base hourly rate.
