Accounts Payable Specialist

Segal McCambridge, a national litigation firm, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting and billing team in our Tinley Park, Illinois office .
This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and wants to grow with an established, firm. The Accounts Payable Specialist will support the accounts payable team broadly, with a particular focus on supporting Segal McCambridge's West Coast offices and attorneys .
This is an in-office position based in Tinley Park, IL .
What You'll Do
- Create checks and electronic payments
- Prepare ad hoc reports and accounting analyses
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Review, enter, and process attorney travel expense reimbursements
- Upload and maintain expense details for client billing
- Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding invoice and payment status
- Review and process accounts payable invoices
- Enter accounts payable invoices into the Elite 3E accounting system
- Maintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation
- Assist with accounts payable activities across the firm, with an emphasis on supporting our West Coast offices
- Provide copies and documentation as needed
- Assist with special projects and other accounting tasks as assigned
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Some college coursework in business, accounting, or a related field preferred
- 1–2 years of related accounts payable or accounting experience
- Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work with numbers, understand mathematical concepts, and analyze data
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Professional communication skills and a customer-service mindset
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
