Accounts Payable Specialist

Segal McCambridge, a national litigation firm, is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting and billing team in our Tinley Park, Illinois office .

This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and wants to grow with an established, firm. The Accounts Payable Specialist will support the accounts payable team broadly, with a particular focus on supporting Segal McCambridge's West Coast offices and attorneys .

This is an in-office position based in Tinley Park, IL .

What You'll Do

• Create checks and electronic payments
• Prepare ad hoc reports and accounting analyses
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
• Review, enter, and process attorney travel expense reimbursements
• Upload and maintain expense details for client billing
• Respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding invoice and payment status
• Review and process accounts payable invoices
• Enter accounts payable invoices into the Elite 3E accounting system
• Maintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation
• Assist with accounts payable activities across the firm, with an emphasis on supporting our West Coast offices
• Provide copies and documentation as needed
• Assist with special projects and other accounting tasks as assigned

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Some college coursework in business, accounting, or a related field preferred
• 1–2 years of related accounts payable or accounting experience
• Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work with numbers, understand mathematical concepts, and analyze data
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Professional communication skills and a customer-service mindset
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
