About the Position

Certified Scrub Technician – Operating Room (OR) – Day Shift – Relocation Candidates Welcome

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Certified Scrub Technician to support surgical services at a Critical Access Hospital in Calais, Maine. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and maintaining a sterile surgical environment, handling surgical instruments safely, and assisting the surgical team during scheduled and emergency procedures.

Candidates must have current operating room experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a safe, sterile surgical field for scheduled and emergency procedures.
• Gather surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to surgeons' pick sheets.
• Set up and organize surgical instruments before procedures.
• Handle surgical instruments and supplies while maintaining sterile technique.
• Assist the surgical team by providing required instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Monitor the sterile field and help prevent contamination.
• Follow infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with hospital policies.
• Perform departmental clerical and other related duties as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with department staff, hospital personnel, medical staff, and equipment sales and repair representatives.

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current Operating Room Technician (ORT) certification required.
• Current operating room experience is essential.
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience .
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure during scheduled and emergency surgical cases.
• Active required credentials as specified by the facility.

Schedule & Assignment Details

• Shift: Days, Monday–Thursday, 10-hour shifts.
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks.
• Guaranteed Hours: No guarantee.
• Positions Available: 1.
• Position Urgency: Quick Start.
• Holiday Coverage: Required.
• EMR: CPSI/Evident.
• Overtime: Calculated weekly after 40 hours, at the all-inclusive pay rate + $3.
• Holiday Rate: All-inclusive pay rate + $3.
• On-Call: No call.
