RN – Emergency Department (ED) – Night Shift – Relocation Candidates Welcome

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Emergency Department team at a Critical Access Hospital in Calais, Maine. The ideal candidate will provide safe, effective, and high-quality patient- and family-centered care while responding efficiently to emergency situations.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently, communicate effectively with the healthcare team, and develop appropriate patient care plans while maintaining patient confidentiality and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to emergency situations.
• Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and established protocols.
• Recognize changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions.
• Develop and coordinate individualized patient care plans with the healthcare team.
• Provide patient- and family-centered care in a fast-paced emergency setting.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation using MedHost EMR.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow hospital policies and Maine State standards.
• Participate in holiday coverage as required.

Requirements

• Current RN license in the State of Maine, or authorization to practice while licensure by endorsement is pending.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required.
• ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
• Previous emergency nursing experience preferred; 2 years of experience preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, computer, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond rapidly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to work night shifts and holidays as required.

Schedule & Assignment Details

• Shift: Nights, three 12-hour shifts per week; shift times may vary.
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks.
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week.

• Position Urgency: Quick Start.

• Holiday Coverage: Required.

• Overtime: Calculated weekly after 40 hours, at the all-inclusive pay rate + $3.
