Target Security Specialist

Job Overview Starting Hourly Rate: $18.50 USD per hour. Target Security Specialists help keep guests, team members, and the store safe by preventing theft and resolving incidents. They use intelligence‑led tactics, de‑escalation, and Target’s video surveillance system to maintain a secure environment. Responsibilities Greet guests within 10 feet: be friendly, smile, make eye contact, or wave; greet within 4 feet with a warm interaction. Help guests find what they need and resolve issues for a smooth shopping experience. End every transaction with a sincere thank you. Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude. Promote a physical‑security culture by assessing and maintaining safe standards throughout the store, including exterior property. Respond to and accurately document security incidents promptly. Use de‑escalation tactics and resources when responding to incidents. Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support as needed, complying with AP policies. Prevent theft and shortage at the front of the store by performing merchandise receipt checks, recognizing trends, and communicating findings. Submit appropriate documentation in the case‑management system for all incidents following AP policy and procedures. Use Target’s video surveillance system effectively. Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance. Work safely at all times, comply with safety policies, report hazards, and correct them when possible. Perform other duties as required by business needs. Qualifications Minimum 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. Meet all state or local licensure and other legal requirements related to the position. Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members. Effective communication skills on multiple frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently. Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment, accomplishing multiple tasks within timeframes. Physical abilities: climb up and down ladders; handle and move merchandise up to 40lb; remain mobile throughout shift; work in varying temperatures and humidity; perform drive‑up and carryout duties. Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times. Open to varying hours, days, or shifts.
