Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientist in Cell & Developmental Biology (CDB) Position overview Position title: Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientist in Cell & Developmental Biology (CDB) Salary range: $76,700 – $201,900 (based on UC academic salary scales; specific amounts depend on rank, step, and funding). Application Window Open date: August 20, 2025 Review date: April 22, 2026 (applications received after this date will be considered only if the position has not yet been filled) Final date: August 20, 2026 (applications after the review date are considered only if the position is still open) Position description The Department of Cell & Developmental Biology in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, San Diego is seeking an experienced biologist in Cell & Developmental Biology or a related field to carry out independent and collaborative research projects. Examples of research projects include, but are not limited to: mechanisms of protein degradation, nucleocytoplasmic transport, and cell migration; gene expression; mechanisms that guide the morphogenesis of tissues, organs, and organisms; and stem cells in development and regeneration, using models ranging from yeast to mammals. This role is non‑tenured, with appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Project Scientist level based on background and years of experience. The project scientist will act under the supervision of Principal Investigators and will be expected to conduct research, publish, and manage research programs with oversight by a faculty member. Apportionment of duties and duration of appointment will depend on ongoing project funding and research scope. Key responsibilities Design, manage, and conduct experiments and research projects Train students and other collaborators in the field of study Lead lab projects and make innovative, significant contributions Participate in and present at scientific meetings Write scientific reports, manuscripts, grants, and other scholarly communications Selected candidates will work in a highly collaborative environment, interacting with researchers at all career stages, including students and clinicians.
