Physical Therapist (PT) - General

Position Overview

General physical therapy physician role focusing on comprehensive rehabilitation and movement restoration across a broad range of conditions in outpatient settings.

You oversee evaluation, plan development, and supervision of PT staff to guide patient recovery and functional independence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise general physical therapy assessment and treatment plans.
• Ensure patient safety, appropriate progression, and communication with the care team.
• Review and interpret outcomes data, adjust therapy plans accordingly.
• Educate patients and families about exercise programs and activity modification.
• Document patient encounters and progress in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other rehab professionals on care plans.
• Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives.

Qualifications

Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or equivalent in rehabilitation medicine.

Licensure: Licensed to practice physical therapy in the United States.

Certifications:

• State PT license
• CPR certification

Experience or Skills: Experience leading rehab programs and supervising PT staff; strong collaboration and documentation skills.

Experience

• Experience in outpatient physical therapy or rehabilitation clinics.
• Experience coordinating with physicians and other rehab disciplines.

Preferred

• Experience with specialty populations (geriatrics, neurological, or orthopedics).
• Research involvement or teaching in rehab sciences.

Work Environment

Rehabilitation clinic or hospital-based outpatient facility with multidisciplinary teams and routine documentation.
