Project Manager

Position Summary The Project Manager will lead and provide oversight for projects that include construction, alterations, and renovations. They work under the guidance and supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Facilities and Maintenance and collaborate with key facilities team members to ensure that project and program goals are met within the prescribed time frames and budgets. Duties and Responsibilities • Coordinate the construction and renovation of projects as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Facilities and Maintenance.• Solicit bids, evaluate proposals, and make contractor and vendor recommendations.• Oversee all project phases from concept through design, construction, and warranty period.• Coordinate with facilities staff on work requests, cost, scheduling, and equipment additions or replacements.• Maintain accurate as‑built documents and ownership and maintenance manuals electronically.• Inspect construction projects to assess progress, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and withhold and follow through on corrective actions.• Ensure all projects conform to the campus master plan and college standards.• Prepare Requests for Qualifications and Proposals, and administer contracts and agreements.• Assist in preparing estimates, value analysis, and corrective schedules.• Support department meetings, trustee meetings, and campus meetings.• Verify safety plans, commissioning, punch lists, and project turnovers with the Assistant Vice President for Facilities and Maintenance.• Secure guarantees, warranties, bonds, waivers, keys, manuals, and record drawings from subcontractors.• Manage document retention, indexing, and distribution.• Meet with stakeholders to capture objectives and incorporate them into project planning. Safety and Work Habits Maintain excellent attendance, punctuality, and meeting deadlines. Follow College policies, procedures, and best practices. Identify typical workplace hazards, report accidents promptly, and participate in safety training and emergency exercises. Other Tasks Assist with special projects and initiatives, provide technical direction to plant operations teams, and develop effective partnerships with other departments. Required Qualifications Education : Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or project management, or equivalent practical construction or facilities experience. Experience : Minimum of three years in construction management, building project management, or facilities management (e.g., renovation projects, space utilization, new construction). Licenses / Certifications : Valid driver’s license; OSHA 30‑hour Construction card (College may support attainment). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of California building codes, commercial construction standards, and basic construction techniques. Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices and LEED green building rating system. Knowledge of WELL building standard and certification. Knowledge of Living Building Challenge standard and certification. Knowledge of engineering and architectural principles and project management, including cost estimating and construction scheduling. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical trade systems to evaluate product suitability. Ability to interpret technical schematics, plans, and specifications. Ability to discuss complex design and construction concepts with engineers and architects. Problem‑solving and research skills with decision-making in timely, safe, and accurate ways. Organizational, time‑management, multitasking, and prioritization abilities. Excellent oral and written communication, including presentations and documentation. Strong interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and integrity. Analytical, critical thinking, and data‑interpretation skills.
