Mason City School District Position: Child Nutrition Customer Service Specialist Location: Central Office

QUALIFICATIONS

1. The position requires a person who is intelligent, adaptable, energetic and well-mannered, and can conduct business with a pleasant personality and diplomacy. This person must represent the child nutrition department with professionalism.
2. The person must be knowledgeable and experienced in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) or Google comparable software and must be willing to adapt to and integrate new technology and software systems.
3. Prior office and business experience including telephone etiquette, letter composition, inventory, bookkeeping, and general office procedures are required.

JOB GOAL

The person shall demonstrate professional tact, possess superior communication and human relation skills, and maintain a professional approach with other district staff, co-workers, students, and their families while performing a variety of functions. This person must be willing to work with and learn new technologies.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Acts as receptionist, serves as office contact with Child Nutrition Managers and staff, school personnel, business representatives, community members and general public. Independently serves as contact on students' meal accounts, handling parental inquiries via calls, office visits, voicemails and emails, processing payments, assisting with free and reduced applications (paper and online) and managing student status information. Assist with management of student meal debt, including use of software for automated phone calls and emails. Counts daily lunch receipts, records appropriate information, prepares daily bank deposits for the lunch receipts, and delivers daily deposits to the bank or Treasurer's Office as directed by the Supervisor. Prepares and sends invoices for catering events, keeps up-to-date accurate records of all payments received for catering events, working with the Assistant Supervisor and the Treasurer's Office. Produces and distributes production records, temperature records, meal count reports or other records as needed by supervisors. Prints and distributes monthly menus for all schools. Inputs electronic orders for food and supplies and maintains records of credits. Works with vendors to maintain clean accounts in good standing, as directed by the Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor. Inputs data into inventory program and assists in maintaining accurate inventory records for food, paper, and cleaning/chemical products. Maintains an inventory and adequate supply of paper (variety of sizes & colors); toner cartridges for copiers and printed, as well as other items necessary for office & cashier operations. Assists with maintenance of office equipment. Maintains Nutritional Notebooks of information relative to food products (purchased non-commodity and commodity items) as directed by the Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor. Assists in the preparation of correspondence, newsletters, memos, reports, training materials, and other information originating in the Child Nutrition Office, as directed. Assists in the preparation for the start of school including preparing materials for families and attending events to represent the Child Nutrition Department. Assists in the child nutrition operations as a cashier or server when needed. During the absence of the Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor, carries on work according to established procedures. Perform such other assignments as may be directed by the Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor. Performs all tasks using independent judgement, discretion and maintains respect for confidentiality at all times.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

202 days In accordance with Classified Employee Calendar Hours to be determined by Supervisor of Child Nutrition Salary to be established according to background & experience on the Classified Employees' Salary Schedule
