Associate Level Mechanical Engineer (Ph.D.) Location: Natick, MA Practice: Mechanical Engineering Position Type: Full‑time Workplace Type: On‑site Salary Range: USD $140,000.00 – USD $160,000.00 per year Job Overview We are seeking an Associate for our Mechanical Engineering Practice in Natick, MA. The role focuses on building consulting expertise in technical analysis and effective communication to serve clients both inside and outside the firm. Responsibilities Conduct hands‑on analyses of mechanical equipment failures to identify causes in collaboration with engineering experts. Create written reports and presentations and deliver these to technical and non‑technical clients. Support an internal client base in solving complex, real‑world mechanical problems. Plan and execute custom laboratory tests using traditional and novel methods. Perform calculations, analyses, field inspections, and prepare reports and presentations. Qualifications Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or a related field with emphasis on machine design, robotics, mechatronics, hydraulics, tribology, or mechanical testing. Extensive experience performing engineering analysis of machine components such as shafts, gears, bearings, brakes, seals, springs, and bolts. Strong foundation in engineering statics, dynamics, and solid mechanics. Hands‑on experience with design, fabrication, and prototyping of mechanical systems. Hands‑on experience with basic laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and data collection, plus the ability to design and execute experiments independently. Proficiency in engineering software such as LabView, Matlab, Python, MathCAD, SolidWorks, AutoCAD. Excellent project ownership: resourcefulness, technical curiosity, commitment to rigor and quality. Strong ability to distill complex technical information and present it effectively to engineers, business, legal, and related audiences. Interest in applying technical and managerial skills to staffing, budgeting, and client interactions. Entrepreneurial aptitude to pursue new client relationships and grow a client base. Willingness to travel, often on short notice. Familiarity with photography is a plus. Legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required. Benefits and Compensation Our total compensation plan for this level includes base salary, bi‑weekly bonuses for high‑intensity work, an annual bonus, and a 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary. The base salary range will be adjusted during interview based on experience and capabilities. Work Environment In‑person collaboration is essential for development and client engagement. Consultants typically work in the office unless traveling for client work or other business activities.
