ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

An exciting opportunity awaits for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team. The position requires recent ICU experience and offers the chance to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Night
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Overview

The ICU unit comprises 34 beds, where RNs work collaboratively to provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1-2 in the ICU, 1:4-5 in the Progressive Care Unit, and 1:5-6 in the Medical-Surgical unit.

Common Patient Diagnoses

• Neuro surgery patients (including neurosurgical interventions)
• Respiratory failure, ARDS, and MODS
• Sepsis and stroke care
• Cardiogenic shock management
• Renal failures and CRRT
• General surgical patients, including cancer-specific surgeries

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and monitor vital signs
• Titrate drips, including vasopressors, sedatives, and antiarrhythmics
• Administer medications and assess their efficacy
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient care
• Participate in rapid response and code situations alongside the Charge Nurse

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience is required
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS is mandatory

This fast-paced unit adjusts to a high volume of patients, offering a challenging yet rewarding environment. Successful candidates will possess critical thinking skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Orientation and Training

• Orientation includes two shifts specific to unit training

Additional Information

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Required to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Expectations for floating to all inpatient units except Maternity/NICU
• Uniform: Navy blue scrubs are required
