Instrument Quality Specialist - Main Healthcare Tech Mgmt - Full Time - Days

Job Description The Equipment Technician provides foundational healthcare technology support and maintenance across the TCH enterprise. This role supports the Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) program through equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and other technical duties while building technical expertise and operational knowledge. Responsibilities include receiving and checking in new equipment, performing preventive maintenance, repairing non-life-support devices, and completing support tasks such as unpacking equipment, organizing the shop, retrieving and returning equipment, tracking assets, maintaining inventory, and assisting with onboarding activities. Equipment may include IV pumps, blood pressure monitors, vital signs monitors, and similar devices. Additional duties may be assigned based on training, competency, and performance. The Equipment Technician gains hands‑on experience by working alongside experienced Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMETs) and following established HTM practices. They perform maintenance and repairs according to manufacturer guidelines while developing technical, troubleshooting, customer service, medical terminology, and clinical workflow knowledge. Work is performed under the supervision of an experienced BMET or supervisor as proficiency is developed. Responsibilities Depending on the progression of education, the Equipment Technician will perform tasks they are qualified to perform. Perform scheduled maintenance on non-life support equipment, incoming inspections, and inspections needed on a non-scheduled maintenance. Service or repairs will be performed on non-life support equipment based on their training and qualifications. Repairs may consist of power cords, replacement of basic parts, such as knobs, controls, etc. More advanced repairs are dependent on education progress and successful completion of on-the-job training. Able to complete training and successfully use medical test devices or medical device setups, or software prior to use on procedures. Learn to use and apply root cause analysis techniques for effective problem solving while overseeing escalation of technical or clinical issues. Maintain communications with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow‑up. Performs initial equipment inspection and setup on new devices, and systems prior to use in procedures. Ensures setup meets all safety, manufacturer and clinical engineering medical equipment procedures or policies. Performs or ensures preventative maintenance, QA, and functional inspections are performed in accordance with the manufacturer guidelines and requirements and documented in accordance with clinical engineering medical equipment management program to meet Joint Commission, CMS or other regulatory or accreditation agencies. Document all work in Clinical Engineering medical systems management system in accordance with CE policies. Other job duties as needed. Qualifications
