Scientist III, R&D - Chromatography Consumables Development and Processes

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Scientist III to lead chromatography consumables development and manufacturing processes. The role involves designing liquid chromatography products from concept through commercialization, conducting experiments, solving technical challenges, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams in a fully onsite Sunnyvale position.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop liquid chromatography products from concept through commercialization aligned with customer and business requirements
- Develop manufacturing processes for chromatographic stationary phases and LC column packing using engineering principles
- Design in-process and final product test methods to ensure quality outcomes
- Evaluate prototype media and columns against product requirements and create customer-facing technical collateral
- Identify and implement process and product improvements; support customers on troubleshooting in collaboration with technical teams
Requirements
- PhD, Master's degree with 3+ years experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience in relevant field
- Expertise in iterative experimental design, execution, and complex data analysis
- Knowledge of chemical and process engineering principles for product development
- Project planning and ability to meet defined deliverables
- Prior liquid chromatography or mass spectrometry experience preferred
- Experience in regulated environments (ISO9001, ISO13485, cGMP) preferred
- U.S. work authorization without sponsorship required; Bay Area residency prioritized
Compensation: $100,000–$133,300 base
