Scientist III, R&D - Chromatography Consumables Development and Applications

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Scientist III to lead chromatography consumables development and commercialization within the High Performance Chromatography Solutions business. The role involves designing and executing experiments, developing liquid chromatography products from concept through market launch, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to drive scientific innovation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new liquid chromatography products from concept through commercialization based on customer and business requirements
• Produce and evaluate prototype stationary phases for different chromatographic separation modes using chemical and process engineering principles
• Create customer-facing collateral demonstrating technology innovations and relevant applications including mass spectrometry
• Coordinate across R&D, Product Management, Marketing, Quality, and Operations to meet project and product deliverables
• Support customers through product and method troubleshooting in collaboration with Technical Support and Quality teams

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree with 3+ years relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience
• Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments iteratively and analyze complex data
• Project planning and execution skills with ability to meet deliverables
• Liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry experience preferred
• Experience in regulated environments (ISO9001, ISO13485, cGMP) preferred
• U.S. work authorization without sponsorship required; local Bay Area candidates prioritized
