Opportunity:

RN - PICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour evening/night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Schedule includes Monday through Friday with every other weekend and a holiday rotation required
• 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Float position - may be required to float to general population units and other units within the organization as needed
• Provide family-centered care to critically ill or injured children and their families in a 21-bed unit
• Care for patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical problems including acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO
• Patient age groups include neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, and adults
• Patient ratios: ICU 1:1-2, IMC 1:2-3, General Care 1:3-4
• Minimum 2 years of acute care PICU experience within the last 3 years required
• Solid PICU experience required; CV ICU, cardiac step down, or general cardiac experience a plus
• NICU experience a plus
• Travel experience required
• Permanent address must be 50 miles or more from assigned work site
• Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact license from permanent address state required
• Required certifications: BLS (American Heart Association only), PALS (American Heart Association)
• Epic charting system experience required
• Basic Arrhythmia experience required; telemetry exam must be passed prior to start
• Telemetry exam passing criteria: 80% or higher on both adult and pediatric exams with 100% identification of lethal rhythms
• Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Key skills include: arterial line management, central line care, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, IV vasopressors, management of chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, and pediatric dosage calculations

The state-of-the-art facility is widely praised for its expert care and warm, soothing atmosphere designed to enhance a child's ability to heal. The facility is home to a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and a Level IV NICU, providing specialized care to the tiniest patients throughout the region and beyond. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams.
