We are seeking a detail-oriented Part-Time Accountant to manage our financial operations. This isn't just about balancing ledgers; you will be working within a specialized scientific environment where understanding the lifecycle of laboratory equipment, R&D tax credits, and project-based chemical procurement is essential.

Key Responsibilities For an Accountant

• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Maintain the general ledger and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Project Costing: Track expenditures related to specific projects, ensuring accurate allocation of supplies and field equipment.
• Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage vendor relationships and oversee client invoicing.
• Grant & R&D Tracking: Assist in tracking expenditures for Grant and Research & Development tax credits.
• Compliance: Ensure all financial practices align with GAAP and environmental regulations.
• Payroll: Process bi-weekly payroll for our team of scientists, engineers, and administrative staff.

Qualifications & Skills for an Accountant

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance
• Industry Experience: 3+ years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for candidates from scientific, biotech, or engineering backgrounds.
• Analytical Rigor: Ability to translate complex scientific project data into clear, actionable financial narratives.
• Meticulous Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry and reconciliation, critical for specialized chemical procurement and tax compliance.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with accounting for environmental services or R&D-heavy business models is a major plus.
