Staff Accountant

Overview

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations within our manufacturing facility in Brundidge, Alabama. This role will assist with financial reporting, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, inventory transactions, and operational accounting support while partnering closely with plant operations and the broader finance team.
The ideal candidate is analytical, hands-on, and eager to grow within a manufacturing environment while building a strong foundation in operational finance and accounting.
Please note: This position is fully onsite in Brundidge, Alabama and does not offer remote work, relocation assistance, or work visa sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting & Financial Reporting
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist with maintaining the general ledger and ensuring financial accuracy.
• Support preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
Inventory & Manufacturing Support
• Assist with inventory transactions and reconciliations.
• Support cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
• Work with operations and warehouse teams to help ensure inventory accuracy.
• Assist with inventory valuation and cost analysis activities.
• Support bill of material (BOM) maintenance and review as needed.
Accounts & Transaction Processing
• Assist with fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes as needed.
• Ensure accounting records are maintained accurately and timely.
Process Improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.
• Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Support ERP system improvements and reporting enhancements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives across finance and operations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner closely with operations, procurement, and supply chain teams.
• Support financial analysis and reporting requests from plant leadership.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis.
• Help support budgeting, forecasting, and operational reporting activities as needed.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
• Accounting degree preferred.
Experience
• 0-3 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Manufacturing experience is preferred but not required.
• Internship, public accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, or related accounting experience will be considered.
• Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel preferred.
