Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) unit is responsible for providing direct patient care to adult patients with various medical conditions and post-surgical needs. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality treatment and patient safety in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg) unit is responsible for providing direct patient care to adult patients with various medical conditions and post-surgical needs. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality treatment and patient safety in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Monitor patient conditions and promptly report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and progress.
- Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and support staff to provide comprehensive care.
- Adhere to facility policies, procedures, and patient safety standards.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Previous experience in Medical/Surgical nursing preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation systems.
- Additional certifications relevant to Med/Surg nursing.
- Work involves direct patient care in a medical/surgical hospital unit.
- Must adhere to all facility and patient safety protocols.
- May require flexibility to respond to patient care needs and emergencies.
- 36 hours per week on a travel contract basis for 13 weeks.
- Shift assignments determined by facility needs; may include day or evening shifts.
- Position is not remote; requires on-site presence at the assigned location.
