Research Administrator 3

Position Information Reporting to the Financial Operations Manager, provide leadership and support for the financial management of the Departments of Biochemistry, Nematology, Plant Pathology and Microbiology, and the Center for Conservation Biology. Uses skills as an experienced research administrator to independently develop and coordinate research proposals for an assigned portfolio of Principal Investigators. Post-award contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Creates proposals and awards of diverse scope where data analysis requires a thorough understanding of complex regulations. Creates complex proposals and awards that may involve multiple investigators and multiple sub-awards. Performs complex budget/resource analysis including forecasting, retrieving data from campus financial systems, organizing and validating data, and preparing comprehensive reports for principal management. Participates in the design of department systems and processes to enhance processing and reporting tools The full salary range for the Research Administrator 3 is $71,925 - $127,955 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $71,925 - $90,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. The salary range for this position is currently under review. The candidate will be placed on the anticipated salary range in accordance with the step placement methodology as defined in the collective bargaining agreement. The title code for this position is covered under the RP Contract. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Requirement Preferred Minimum Requirements Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment. Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc. Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration. Ability to manage significant volume of transactions. Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting. Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles. Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports. Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas. Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques. Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor's guidelines.
