Behavioral Health Therapist - Independence Center

Additional Information About the Role Shift - Monday through Thursday 8:30 am-5 pm & Friday 8 am-2 pm This is a full time therapist position in a small office with psychiatry and therapy. Working with adults only, ages 18 and older. Team dynamic: 2 Therapists, plus Nurse Practitioners, RNs, LPNs, and Psychiatrists are currently part of the Independence Center Clinic on the lower level of Independence Center. They will conduct 1:1 sessions and possible group sessions. Location: BJC Independence Center (on-site only). Ideal Skill Set: Preference for therapists with experience and trained in evidence‑based practices such as CBT, DBT, Trauma‑Focused CBT, EMDR, etc. Compassionate, flexible, able to document timely, adapt to change, and willing to work in a team setting is a must. Job responsibilities: Provide therapy to adult clients. The severity of issues will vary in type and acuity – we work with serious and persistent mental illness. Overview BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 8,000 seriously mentally ill adults and emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. François, Iron and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH), BJC Behavioral Health serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Behavioral Health Therapist works with individuals, families, and groups to address and treat mental & emotional disorders, and to promote optimal mental health. Responsibilities Provides individual, and in some cases, family therapy to active clients. Updates the treatment plan to reflect therapy goals. Collaborates with other professionals regarding client participation level, progress, and setbacks. Completes intakes for individuals requesting services at BJC, assessing their eligibility based on symptomology, treatment history, and current needs. Develops and facilitates education for clients. Minimum Requirements Education – Master’s Degree in Social Services or related field. Experience – 2–5 years. Supervisor Experience – None. Licenses & Certifications Valid Driver’s License LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent Preferred Requirements 5–10 years of experience.
