Assistant Professor/Clinical (Emergency Medicine)

The Department of Emergency Medicine in the Joe R and Teresa Lozano long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio has an opening for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank and will include teaching duties. Our hospitals are regional referral centers for trauma, oncology, surgery, general medicine, and organ transplantation. Duties include providing direct patient care in accordance with your clinical credentials, and supervise residents, advanced practice providers, and medical students in the University Hospital adult ED, pediatric ED, psychiatric ED, Fast Track, and Observation Unit, and other affiliated clinical sites serviced by the department. Is scheduled to work in all areas of the ED as mission dictates. Clinical schedules are based on agreed upon effort. Service and citizenship expectations are linked to departmental metrics and individual faculty development plans. All faculty are responsible for remaining current on all administrative requirements and are expected to contribute service (e.g, serve on committees) to the department, UHS emergency department. On par with position and roles, contribute service (e.g., serve or chair committees) to LSOM, UTHSA, and UHS. Provide bedside teaching and didactic instruction to GME (emergency medicine residents and EMS fellows, and off-service residents rotating in the ED) and UME (3rd and 4th year students rotating in emergency medicine). On occasion, teach other trainees e.g., PA students, 1st and 2nd year medical students. On par with position and roles, provide general didactic instruction (e.g., grand rounds lectures) to trainees in the department. Scholarly production expectations are linked to departmental metrics and individual faculty development plans. Selected faculty (e.g., core faculty) are expected to produce at least one piece of substantive scholarship each year. On par with position and role, seek extramural funding for research and service projects. Required Degree: MD/DO or Foreign Equivalent. Required: Training: 36 months of Emergency Medicine Residency Training. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine. Texas Medical License or eligible to obtain.
