Health Services Specialist (Safety) Infection Preventionist/ DSH Napa CNS

Job Description and Duties

DSH - Napa is seeking for a Health Services Specialist (Central Nursing Services) to provide clinical oversight and coordination of nursing services across our inpatient psychiatric hospital. This role serves as a key clinical resource, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care while supporting nursing staff, regulatory compliance, emergency response, and hospital-wide operations.

Working under the direction of Assistant Coordinator of Nursing Services/Supervising Registered Nurse/Nurse Administrator, you will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to monitor patient care, support clinical decision-making, coordinate medical emergencies and outside hospital transfers, oversee documentation and quality initiatives, and promote evidence-based practice in a complex behavioral health environment.

Duties: Oversee the Skilled Nursing Facility's infection prevention practices. Implement and maintain evidence-based infection prevention policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements. Provide guidance on standard and transmission-based precautions, isolation practices, hand hygiene, and other infection prevention strategies. Collaborate with nursing leaders, medical staff, Public Health, and other interdisciplinary teams to investigate infection control concerns and corrective measures. Perform infection control audits and analyze infection prevention data and trends. Educate and train nursing staff on infection prevention practices
