Systems Safety Engineer

Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: : Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required .

Responsibilities for this Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer 3 to lead complex systems engineering efforts with a strong emphasis on personal and environmental safety . The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, safety engineering knowledge, and a proven ability to deliver innovative, safety-compliant solutions in support of mission-critical defense programs.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities with a focus on safety requirements, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation across the full system lifecycle
• Develop and maintain Safety Management Plans , hazard analyses, and environmental impact assessments
• Ensure compliance with DoD safety standards and regulations
• Integrate personal and environmental safety requirements into system architectures and designs
• Conduct and support Safety Reviews , including Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and System Safety Working Groups (SSWG)
• Collaborate with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) teams to ensure regulatory compliance
• Mentor junior engineers on safety engineering best practices
• Support proposals, design reviews, and customer interactions related to safety requirements

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
• Experience: 2+ years of relevant systems engineering experience, with demonstrated focus on safety engineering
• Clearance: Active Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred
• Candidate must be local to the area and able to work onsite in the Pittsfield, MA office. Some telecommuting is allowed up to 2 days a week.
• Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation

Combined Salary Range

USD $100,219.00 - USD $111,180.00 /Yr.
