Patient Support Assistant

The role involves assisting Registered Nurses in delivering direct patient care on a designated unit.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Supporting activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, eating, and walking.
• Maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and equipment.
• Providing compassionate, respectful care to enhance the patient experience.
• Assisting with telemetry cardiac monitoring and recognizing critical arrhythmias.
• Performing delegable nursing tasks like specimen collection, vital signs, and simple dressings, following clear instructions.
• Using portable technology for documentation and measurements.
• Supporting hospital visitors and staff, managing supplies, and handling transport of medications and specimens.
• Acting as a patient safety champion and potentially serving as a preceptor or super user for technology.

Qualifications include:

High School diploma or GED (or valid work permit for younger individuals). The role requires a caring attitude, flexibility, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The position involves variable shifts and a focus on safety, efficiency, and continuous learning in a healthcare environment.
