Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantOur client, a major Texas based Commercial Real Estate company, is hiring a Staff Accountant to take ownership of financial reporting and month-end close for a commercial real estate portfolio. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands property accounting at a portfolio level, not just task execution. You'll be expected to work independently, identify issues proactively, and maintain clean, audit-ready financials.Full-cycle month-end close across assigned propertiesBank, loan, and intercompany reconciliations (due-to/due-from)Preparation and posting of journal entries (accruals, reclasses, prepaid amortization)Maintenance of depreciation schedules and WIP trackingThorough General Ledger (GL) review and variance analysisEnsuring financial accuracy, completeness, and timeliness across the portfolioPartnering with asset management and operations to resolve discrepanciesYardi experience (non-negotiable)3-5+ years of property accounting experience (commercial preferred)Proven experience managing full-cycle month-end close independentlyStrong understanding of debits/credits and journal entriesExperience with:Bank & loan reconciliationsIntercompany accountingAccruals, prepaids, and depreciationIntermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic analysis)Experience handling multiple properties or entities simultaneouslyAbility to identify and fix accounting discrepancies without hand-holdingStrong sense of ownership and accountabilityComfortable operating in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentThis is not a plug-and-play accounting job.
