Your Impact The West Region Highway/Bridge Design Practice Leader will lead the Pacific Northwest (PNW) Highway/Bridge design team, oversee client service and project delivery, manage staff resources and budgets, and provide technical and project oversight. The role directs daily operations and financial outcomes of the PNW group and supports regional growth by developing and implementing business plans. Project Management and Design Capable of analyzing all technical aspects of roadway/highway engineering, identifying issues, and applying suitable solutions. Review construction plans, design calculations, specifications, and cost estimates for completeness, accuracy, constructability, and conformity to local standards or best engineering practices. Prepare project reports, feasibility studies, and other written communications. Lead meetings and interface with Lochner’s clients. Develop project schedules, scope, and budget, and manage fundamental project tasks. Ensure quality assurance and quality control through development and review of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Demonstrate strong leadership potential and soft skills, working well with staff at all levels. Marketing and Business Development Help develop a civil transportation vision and support business plans to drive regional growth, leveraging marketplace, competitive, and opportunity knowledge. Work with Marketing Manager on local marketing and growth strategies, enforce best practices, and help the office meet business plan goals. Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events and other business functions; develop relationships with local leaders and partner firms; take active leadership roles in professional organizations. Coordinate periodic meetings with key client personnel. Business Strategy and Implementation Support the development of office-level action plans, encourage debate and analysis for growth. Enforce compliance with staff utilization expectations and implement corrective action when needed. Assess and anticipate talent needs; support recruiting efforts aligned with growth strategy. Finance and Operations Help improve profitability of the Seattle office and associated projects. Measure and monitor budget and operational performance and communicate key metrics to leadership. Operational Responsibility Maintain chargeability in agreement with regional leadership. Support teaming and client communication across offices; ensure satisfactory client experience, project production, and QA/QC procedures. Oversee succession plans and develop defined successors. Conduct candid performance evaluations; recommend salary increases for subordinate staff. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and corporate policies.
