About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified IMC RN in Shreveport, Louisiana, 71101!

• Provide direct patient care in a 24-bed IMC/PCU/Stepdown unit managing patient types including AFIB/RVR, DKA, HTN, COPD, ARF, and post-heart cath patients
• Care for stroke unit overflow patients including CVA/TIA requiring TPA administration, as well as spinal surgical patients (ACDF, Laminectomy)
• Manage and titrate vasoactive and critical drips including Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, and Levophed
• Perform and manage advanced clinical skills including chest tube management, tracheostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, ISTAT, and CSF (lumbar) drains
• Pass a required EKG competency exam as part of pre-arrival compliance
• Document accurately using Meditech Expanse EMR; administer medications via Pyxis and manage IV therapy using Alaris pumps

• Active RN license
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in an acute care setting
• First-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff RN experience in acute care; travelers previously employed at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year
• Experience with titratable drips (Cardene, Cardizem, Insulin, Heparin, Neo, Levophed) strongly preferred; candidates without this experience require manager approval

• Experience with chest tube management, tracheostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, ISTAT, and CSF (lumbar) drains
• Familiarity with Meditech Expanse EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Experience in stroke or neurology care settings
• Comfort floating to Stroke and MedSurg units (ratios up to 1:5-6)

• Work in a well-supported unit with in-house resources including phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, IV/VAT team, centralized telemetry monitoring, and OT/PT/ST services
