Supervisor

Supervisor performs a wide variety of analytical and evaluative duties in HAS, Supervisor serves in a multifaceted capacity in support of the Chief, Health Administration Service. The incumbent is responsible for demonstrating flexibility, integrity and accountability with a work ethic that emphasizes excellence and quality and builds customer confidence by professional dress and demeanor.

The incumbent is delegated authority necessary to accomplish assigned programs. Performing the full range of supervisory duties and responsibilities to effectively utilize the resources and manpower allocated to the assigned area.

Coordinates leave for MSAs, approving time and leave as appropriate.

She/he identifies training needs and finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of work within the assigned areas.

Incumbent has responsibility for resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are provided in an efficient and patient focused manner.

The incumbent is required to provide back-up coverage for supervisors at other locations based on the needs of the Service.

The incumbent is responsible for directing all administrative functions for the outpatient care for the VASNHS within the assigned outpatient clinics and supervision of the MSA staff who are in direct support of the services.

The incumbent serves as the HAS Supervisor in the Outpatient clinic setting within the VASNHS.

Contacts with subordinate staff are to provide front-line supervision and direction. Other contacts are to influence managers or other officials to accept and implement findings and recommendations on organization improvement or program effectiveness.

Supervision involves substantial technical ability and knowledge as it relates to understanding scheduling, pre-registration, health benefits, enrollment, travel, ICB, VistA, CPRS, MyHealthVet, and telephone usage and Telephone Record Management (TRM), etc.

Requires exceptionally high level of interpersonal skills in order to collaborate, problem solve, and negotiate with a wide range of clinical and administrative staff in order to produce a quality service.
