Construction HR & Payroll Administrator

Office / HR AdministratorLocation: Columbus, OHJob Type: Full-TimePosition Overview:Our client, located in Columbus OH, is seeking a highly organized and dependable Office / HR Administrator to support daily office operations, payroll processing, and human resources functions within a fast-paced construction environment. This individual will play a key role in maintaining administrative efficiency, supporting employees and leadership, coordinating onboarding activities, and ensuring accurate payroll and employee records.The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and strong interpersonal relationships.Key Responsibilities:Office AdministrationManage daily office operations, including phones, emails, filing, scheduling, and office suppliesSupport project managers, superintendents, and leadership with administrative tasksMaintain organized employee, project, and vendor recordsCoordinate meetings, travel arrangements, and company events as neededAssist with document preparation, reports, and correspondenceHelp ensure compliance with company procedures and safety documentationHuman Resources SupportCoordinate onboarding and orientation for new hiresMaintain employee files and HR records with confidentiality and accuracyAssist with benefits administration and employee documentationTrack employee certifications, licenses, training, and required documentationSupport recruiting efforts, including posting jobs and scheduling interviewsAssist with employee relations, policy communication, and HR compliance initiativesHelp manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work documentationPayroll ResponsibilitiesProcess weekly and/or biweekly payroll accurately and on timeReview employee timecards, job costing, and labor allocations for accuracyCoordinate with field supervisors regarding employee hours and payroll approvalsMaintain payroll records and assist with reporting requirementsProcess employee status changes, deductions, and direct deposit updatesAssist with certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage documentation when requiredSupport year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and auditsEnsure compliance with payroll laws, tax regulations, and company policiesQualifications2+ years of administrative, HR, and/or payroll experience, preferably in construction or a related industryStrong organizational and multitasking skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Experience with payroll software, HRIS systems, or construction management software preferredKnowledge of payroll processes, labor tracking, and employee documentationAbility to handle confidential information professionallyHigh school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferredPreferred SkillsExperience supporting field and office personnel in a construction environmentKnowledge of basic HR practices, payroll procedures, and employment documentationFamiliarity with certified payroll and prevailing wage projects is a plusStrong attention to detail and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting #J-18808-Ljbffr Embark Recruiting Solutions
