Licensed Private Client Banker

Job Summary A Private Client Banker (PCB) is part of the Key Private Client Program and focuses on the entire client relationship with a plan-based approach to financial advice. The PCB delivers and refers appropriate financial solutions to KeyBank’s client base with up to $2M in investable assets. The role helps clients achieve confidence in their financial wellness by assessing needs, gathering and documenting client data, and offering appropriate products and services. PCBs identify products and services to meet client needs and refer to appropriate sales professionals in Retail, Key Investment Services, Private Bank, Mortgage, or Business Banking. Essential Functions Embodies a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate and realizing the impact on their day, personally, professionally, and financially. Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and provide effective and customized financial wellness recommendations. Delivers on client solutions through referring investment and insurance products. Consistently attains individual activity, behavior, and outcome goals and expectations. Builds a client referral pipeline via identification and development of internal and external centers of influence; employs a disciplined approach to prospecting and documents calling efforts. Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of private client products and services, as well as competitive products, to ensure meaningful financial wellness conversations. Opens personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, various deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.). Develops strong partnerships with branch teammates and line‑of‑business partners through in‑person meetings, focusing on client acquisition and deepening relationships of current clients; effectively manages internal and external centers of influence. Ensures compliance with operational, risk, security, and audit procedures and policies, including appropriate documentation of client interactions. Supports branch operations, including assisting with client transactions on the teller line as needed. Participates in and occasionally facilitates in‑person morning huddles and end‑of‑day debriefs. Works on Saturdays as directed by management. Performs other duties as assigned; duties may change without notice. Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, acting professionally at all times and conducting business ethically. Education High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience (required). Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or equivalent experience (required). Work Experience Experience developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources in insurance and investment products (required). Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele‑consulting, outside calling, prospecting, and networking (required). Comfortable interacting with small business clients, overcoming objections, and asking fact‑finding questions with the goal of being helpful (preferred). Interpersonal interaction skills and the ability to build rapport in minutes (required). Demonstrated experience influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence, requiring significant influence of partners such as Key Investment Services, Mortgage, and Business Banking sales professionals (required). Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office Products including Word and Excel) (required). Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web‑based browsing) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms and capabilities within Key (required). Proactive identification and development of new client relationships through prospecting and networking. Staying updated with market trends and analyzing market conditions to provide informed financial advice. Driving Requirements Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license. Work Location Category Branch Compensation and Benefits This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $25.00 – $38.46 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based on skills, experience, and geographic location. Compensation also includes incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
