The Electrical Test Technician supports daily production by testing, troubleshooting, and validating 480VAC electrical distribution cabinets and related assemblies. This role builds, evaluates, and repairs electrical products during the production process, ensuring they meet customer specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The technician develops test plans for new products, participates in root cause analysis for returned materials, and contributes to continuous improvement of quality and safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the production team to support and achieve daily production goals.

• Perform electrical testing and troubleshooting on 480VAC electrical distribution cabinets to ensure proper operation and safety.

• Develop detailed test plans and procedures for new product launches.

• Assist in product rework and conduct root cause analysis of returned materials (RMAs) to identify and correct issues.

• Repair electrical circuits and product assemblies to restore functionality and meet specifications.

• Build, test, and evaluate electrical distribution products throughout the production process.

• Ensure all products comply with customer specifications, production standards, and applicable quality requirements.

• Use standard and custom electrical testing equipment and procedures to verify product performance.

• Adhere to applicable procedures within the Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Management System (EMS), and Occupational Health & Safety standards (OSHAS), ensuring processes remain sustainable, suitable, and effective.

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to the QMS where appropriate.

• Utilize digital multimeters to assess electrical circuits and troubleshoot issues.

• Conduct Hi-Potential (Hi-Pot) testing of electrical distribution cabinets to verify insulation and safety.

• Test current transformers using ratiometers to confirm they meet specified performance criteria.

• Collaborate with team members to ensure electrical safety requirements are consistently met and standards are maintained.

• Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams to facilitate power-up, testing, and verification of distribution cabinets.

• Use basic hand tools to assemble, adjust, and repair electrical circuits and components during production and rework activities.

Essential Skills

• Ability to utilize digital multimeters to assess and troubleshoot electrical circuits.

• Basic knowledge of AC and DC circuits and their operation.

• Skill in understanding and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams.

• Experience in soldering wiring across various electrical circuits.

• Foundational understanding of computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

• Effective teamwork and strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to take initiative and complete tasks independently without supervision.

• Ability to use basic hand tools to work on electrical circuits and assemblies.

• Familiarity with electrical measuring equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.

• Hands-on experience with electrical testing, troubleshooting, and working with AC/DC systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with 480VAC electrical distribution cabinets.

• Familiarity with Hi-Potential (Hi-Pot) testing of electrical equipment.

• Experience testing current transformers using ratiometers.

• Exposure to Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and Occupational Health & Safety standards (OSHAS).

• Experience identifying and implementing process improvements in a production or test environment.

• Comfort working with electronics and electrical distribution products in a manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

This position is based in a climate-controlled manufacturing setting designed to provide a comfortable and safe work area. You will work on a first-shift schedule, collaborating closely with production and engineering teams on the shop floor and in test areas. The environment includes the use of electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, ratiometers, and standard hand tools, with established procedures aligned to QMS, EMS, and Occupational Health & Safety standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $72800.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
