Onsite Medical Representative

The Onsite Medical Representative provides first aid and health support to associates in a busy industrial environment, working closely with the Workplace Health & Safety team to promote safety, wellness, and effective injury management. This role independently assesses and administers first aid for occupational and non-occupational injuries or illnesses, guides associates on health and wellness principles, and coordinates care with external medical providers when needed. The position actively supports workers' compensation and return-to-work programs, participates in safety and case management meetings, and contributes to a culture of proactive risk reduction and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Independently assess and administer first aid to associates for both occupational and non-occupational injuries or illnesses.
• Provide first aid support and make timely referrals to outside medical providers when additional care is required.
• Advocate health and wellness principles and support associates through daily one-on-one interactions.
• Minimize the risk of injury for associates through awareness, education, and proactive engagement on the operations floor.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of all care provided to associates.
• Coordinate and maintain workers' compensation and return-to-work programs for associates with work-related injuries.
• Prepare and submit daily activity logs and end-of-shift reports to document care and safety-related activities.
• Engage with associates and site leadership on the operations floor to provide coaching on observed at-risk work habits and body mechanics.
• Attend weekly associate safety committee meetings and participate in case management review meetings as needed.
• Greet new hires at the site and provide an overview of available medical and safety support services.
• Maintain a clean and organized working environment and ensure appropriate medical supply inventory is available and properly stocked.
• Participate in training and certification activities to facilitate first aid, CPR, and AED certification classes.
• Maintain all personal first aid, CPR, and AED credentials in good standing.
• Assist with random saliva drug testing protocols in accordance with site procedures.
• Maintain effective care delivery in emergencies and assist with emergency response efforts at the site.
• Collaborate with Workplace Health & Safety site managers, specialists, and Injury Prevention Specialists to support overall safety operations.
• Work flexible shifts that may include days, nights, holidays, and weekends to ensure continuous onsite medical coverage.

Essential Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved emergency cardiac care provider.
• Current valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic certification from a Department of Health or the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
• Ability to obtain adult First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within three weeks of starting, if not already held.
• Ability to lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
• Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours during shifts.
• Ability to work safely in environments with variable noise levels, temperatures, and weather conditions.
• Ability to continuously climb and descend stairs at sites where stairs are present.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate medical and safety records.
• Capability to deliver effective first aid and support emergency response in a fast-paced setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Certification to teach first aid, CPR, and AED training from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting.
• Experience working within an industrial wellness program.
• Experience managing musculoskeletal disorders, ergonomics, and coaching associates on proper body mechanics.
• Demonstrated work experience with OSHA regulations and workers' compensation processes.
• Proficiency in digital record management systems for health and safety documentation.
• Recent military medical experience within the last year, such as Combat Medic, Field Medic, Healthcare Specialist, Hospital Corpsman, or Aerospace Medical Service Technician.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with associates and leadership.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary safety and health team.

Work Environment:

This role is based onsite in an industrial operations environment where the Workplace Health & Safety team is deeply committed to the safety and well-being of all employees. The Onsite Medical Representative spends significant time on the operations floor, interacting directly with associates and leadership, and may work in areas where noise levels and activity vary throughout the day. The work setting can include variable temperatures and exposure to outdoor conditions, particularly in delivery or loading areas, and may require frequent stair climbing at multi-level facilities. Shifts can be up to 12 hours and may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, requiring extended periods of standing and walking as well as regular lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, and reaching. The role uses medical supplies and equipment for first aid, CPR, and AED response, as well as computers and digital systems for recordkeeping and reporting. The environment emphasizes teamwork, safety, continuous improvement, and a professional appearance appropriate for a clinical and industrial setting.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Bessemer, AL.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $31.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
