We are looking for an Attorney/Lawyer to support a growing insurance defense and liability practice in Herndon, Virginia. This role offers the opportunity to manage civil litigation matters at multiple stages of the case lifecycle while working closely with experienced attorneys on strategy, advocacy, and client service. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, strong writing ability, and a practical approach to representing insureds and insurance carriers in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities:
• Direct insurance defense and liability cases from initial case review through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, mediation, trial preparation, and appeal support when needed.
• Assess claims by examining liability exposure, damages, and factual developments to shape effective litigation strategies with clients and senior attorneys.
• Prepare a wide range of legal documents such as complaints, answers, motions, briefs, discovery materials, and correspondence related to coverage and case status.
• Conduct and defend depositions while organizing witnesses and experts for testimony, hearings, mediations, and courtroom proceedings.
• Deliver timely updates, legal evaluations, and strategic recommendations to insurers and insured clients in a clear and thorough manner.
• Oversee case deadlines, billing expectations, and file activity across multiple matters to maintain organized and efficient litigation management.
• Work closely with colleagues across the legal team to support strong case outcomes and a client-centered approach to representation.

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

• Active Virginia law license in good standing.

• One to five years of experience in civil litigation, insurance defense, liability matters, or a closely related practice area is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to write persuasively, perform legal research effectively, and present sound legal analysis.

• Strong oral advocacy and communication skills for working with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, and internal teams.

• Ability to balance multiple active files, meet deadlines, and prioritize responsibilities in a busy practice.

• Experience with matters involving premises liability, automobile liability, general liability, or similar claims is a plus.

• Prior exposure to depositions, hearings, or trial preparation is preferred.
