Are you passionate about mentoring, coaching, and helping young adults reach their full potential? Iroquois Job Corps is seeking a Youth Development Specialist – Residential Services (ILA) to provide guidance, support, and life skills coaching to students living on our residential campus.

This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are currently attending college or pursuing careers in:

• Counseling
• Psychology
• Social Work
• Human Services
• Early Childhood Education
• Elementary Education
• Secondary Education
• Special Education
• Youth Development
• Sociology
• Behavioral Sciences
• Criminal Justice 
• Recreation Therapy
• Or any other degree focused on working with children, adolescents, or young adults.

As a Youth Development Specialist (ILA), you will mentor students ages 16–24 , helping them develop the confidence, responsibility, leadership, and independent living skills needed to become successful employees, community members, and future leaders.

This is much more than a residential position—it is an opportunity to positively influence young lives while gaining valuable, hands-on experience that directly supports future careers in education, counseling, social services, youth development, and behavioral health.

Schedule

• Friday, Saturday and 
  Sundays 3pm-Midnight

Responsibilities

• Serve as a mentor and positive role model for students residing on campus.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and encouragement to promote personal growth and responsible decision-making.
• Monitor student activities and maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive residential environment.
• Teach independent living skills, leadership, conflict resolution, communication, and personal responsibility.
• Ensure accurate accountability of students throughout each shift.
• Conduct room inspections and maintain residential standards.
• Respond to student concerns and assist with conflict resolution and behavior de-escalation.
• Maintain detailed shift logs and communicate important information to incoming staff.
• Collaborate with counselors, instructors, wellness staff, security personnel, and other departments to support student success.
• Encourage student engagement, leadership, teamwork, and community involvement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with youth or young adults preferred.
• Experience in a residential setting, group home, college residence hall, after-school program, or similar environment is a plus.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
