Senior Director, Safety Data Sciences

AbbVie seeks a Senior Director of Safety Data Sciences to lead a global team in pharmacovigilance and signal detection. The role combines strategic oversight of safety surveillance operations with advancement of data-driven, AI-enabled approaches to drug safety monitoring across the company's product portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Lead 40+ person global team of physicians, pharmacists and healthcare professionals in signal detection and safety surveillance
- Establish strategic direction for proactive, scalable signal detection and surveillance approaches
- Champion advanced analytical methods including exploratory analytics, visualization, automation and AI for safety data interpretation
- Develop and execute major pharmacovigilance deliverables including safety assessments, regulatory responses and risk management plans
- Drive continuous process improvement in surveillance, signal management and data analysis operations
Requirements
- Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, or PhD) required
- 15+ years pharmacovigilance and drug safety experience in industry or academia
- 8+ years leading global teams with demonstrated change management success
- Expertise in global PV regulations, risk management, and labeling
- Proficiency with diverse safety data sources and signal detection methodologies
- Strong relationship management and cross-functional influence capabilities
